Bowl 292 Revisited
Well, it happens, hopefully not to often, but whatever the cause, bowls can break. So what do you do?
Well this is what happened to Bowl 292. Actually I was happy to see it back. I didn’t like how it was originally finished with some water based varnish I was working with at the time. So I sanded it down to the wood, stained the cut in lines, rounded out the area where a piece had broken off.
But now that the bowl would have a new personality and purpose I had to go a step further. I had only attempted to do a spoon once before and they are not that difficult except digging out the bowl area of the spoon. Any way Bowl 292 is now perfect for serving that Guacamole or Salsa….Ole!

Four Bowls from one Tree for a Family / Bowls 633-636
Gosh, a New Year!
Just before Christmas the city was doing some work on the road in front of my community and one day I saw a crew cutting trees, primarily Bradford Pear. Of course I stopped and asked if I could have one of the trunks. Well they even helped me load it into my car.
I was able to get 4 very nice bowls out the wood and while turning I saw this wood had different coloration than I had found in Bradford Pear. Not sure why that was, perhaps from auto emissions or perhaps just the ground, anyway they turned out quite different.
While shopping with my wife I got a call from William and Ann seeing if I had any bowls available. I told him I did but they were drying in sawdust at the moment. Later they came by, liked what they saw, were disappointed that they would not be dried and finished in time for Christmas but decided to purchase them anyway. They took many pictures of them that I am sure were gift wrapped and given as Christmas presents to the family.
I do hope you will all love and enjoy them through the coming years!
