  • Bowl 720 River Birch

This aged River Birch piece is probably the biggest of all bowls turned in 2013

  • Bowl 714 River Birch

This wood came from a good friend Ella and I probably let the wood stand for about a year before I turned it. River Birch when freshly cut has a fairly consistent color of butter. In this case Mother Nature did the rest.

  • Bowl 712 Cherry

The last of 4 bowls turned from the Cherry Tree from Spalding Dr. Just a very nice bud vase.

  • Bowl 711 Spalted Maple

A very nice turning from a very aged and spalted piece of Maple.

  • Bowl 710 Cherry

This is one of 4 bowls turned from the same Cherry Tree as bowl 700. Its very small and delicate.

  • Bowl 707 Cherry

This was another, smaller bowl turned from the same Cherry Tree as Bowl #700

  • Bowl 706 Maple

Just a nice smaller Peublo style turning from splated Maple

  • Bowl 715 Maple

This is the sister bowl to 705. Again with Ambrosia and Birds Eye. Almost as large as its sister.

  • Bowl 705 Maple

Wow, What a find. Got a call from my friend Bob who found a tree down in a back yard up in Cumming.

This is about as large a bowl as I can turn on the lath over the bed and was an amazing piece of Maple.

Not only does it have Ambrosia (Beetle Damage) but its the first Maple with Birds Eye (speckled spots) that I have had the opportunity to turn.

  • ATL Humane Society Auction, Bowl 700

This was probably the best all around bowl I turned in 2012 (and finished in 2013).

Friends at the Atlanta Humane Society contact me and asked if I could donate to a good cause…..you bet. Zazu and Zulu both came to us through organizations like this.

Anyway the party was a great success and I am please to state that this bowl reach its “By Now” price set for the auction.

Pictured (from left to right) Allison (Jeff the Wood Guys Wife), Jeff, and Luba who is the owner of the Cartridge World of Roswell who also was donating.

This wood came from a tree on Spalding Dr. which was cut down during renovation of the landscaping at Spalding Lakes.
